Welcome to our Casa

This week we had the pleasure of opening our home to our fun & sweet friend Carlyn of Carlyn K. Photography . She captured our little old home perfectly, using natural light & her eye. We have a home that is filled with love & little by little projects get done. We have a home with holes in the walls from our constant rearranging & decorating. We have a home that is lived in.  One that along our little journey , called life. During our journey,we found out what we love, what our style is, creating cozy spaces to nurture our children's gifts... we are finding out who we are. We have a home filled with hand me down furniture, curbside finds, and a few inexpensive great scores. It's a collection where every piece tells a story & memories are made. In this new year Libby & I wanted to share a little of our family. We aren't perfect , we have good times & we have hard times. We have faith & know to keep on trusting God. We know that through some of our toughest storms , came the greatest blessings.

Our tribe of six, is our blog that was born from a hashtag Libby & I  created on Instagram a year or so ago & the idea for this little blog came about then. Chances are if you are reading this you already know who I (Becky)  & Libby are. But, if you don't find out a little bit more here on Instagram.  My husband Jeremy is a football coach, we have four children , Libby (12), TD (10), JP (7) and Ava aka "oh ava" (4).

Welcome to our Casa...

I remember years ago when my husband & I got  married, I envisioned this home filled with all new stuff. Then I realized quickly we couldn't afford any of that. That's when I started to make things over. Back then I only painted everything black and distressed it,  I learned a few years later how much I love color, and started to embrace it. After all its just a little paint.

We moved a lot during the early years of our marriage, when we decided to plant some roots a little over 5 years ago & raise our kids in my husbands hometown. I dreamed of an old home & fixing it, little did I know what that actually entailed. Oh, the charm of an old home, original wood work , stained glass windows.... but the down side no closet space. A nightmare with 4 kids, but solution this old wardrobe turned coat closet. It was from a barn a friend gave us years ago , I used milk paint to make it over.

Libby & Ava cozied up in our living room , giggling. This sofa has special meaning, it was my friends grandmothers & when she was selling it she asked me if it was something I would want for our home. It held special meaning to her & wanted to see it loved & felt like it was perfect for us. A pink vintage sofa, that is so comfy you often catch us reading books, napping or just hanging out on. It's totally us.

Our dinning room. My grandfather's hutch, was one of the last projects he did before he passed. I remember how much my Grandma Betty loved it. It was a pickle finish, I remember how afraid I was to paint it, but it just wasn't us. I was worried I was taking away its special meaning , then I realized they would want me to love it the same and make it our own.

We don't paint everything , we have a few rules & feel there should be a balance of painted & unpainted pieces on our home. You may start to notice as we continue this blog, we have a cow of some sort in almost every room.

Our colorful kitchen, may be one my favorite place in the house. Also the most unfinished project in the house. We completed phase one a few winters ago , by installing the floors. A lot of elbow grease with little cost. I knew when we moved here I loved color so I painted all the walls with color in our home, the kitchen 3 times , until I realized I needed the walls to be a soft light natural color, so I can add pops of color through out the room.

Our family room is the most colorful room in the house, its bright, cheerful & it's where we often create. It's also the smallest room , making the perfect place to cuddle & cozy up to a good movie. I did a big overhaul of this room a year ago , it was over taken by toys our kids never played with. I watched what we did & how we used this space, then got rid of the "stuff" they did not play with or use . Made it purposeful to us & our season of life we are in.

I love seeing our signs we created together , scattered all over our home. I started at our dinning room table about decade ago now, wanting to create something with my hands for our daughter, not knowing what or how. It started with a hair bow for Libby.  Something was ignighted inside of me.

Our walls are a story of us. I want you all to feel that special feeling of I made this.  I can do this. I want my children to have reminders of how brave they are , how special they are scattered through our home.

This year we want to inspire you. We want us all to feel encouraged. We want to share a little of us with you . Every time we offered custom signs last year we sold out.  So we have taken time this month to set up our little shop to offer more of what we create. God has brought some talented people into our lives to help us. Our family & friends are amazingly supportive too & always helping make it all happen. I love that everything is handmade here. The designs by Libby & I . So this year we are offering our signs to be purchased online at anytime, handmade here in East Palestine, OH by us. We want to create that something special for you.

In addition, we also want you to be able to create with us at anytime. You may have seen the little framed signs scatterd through out our home. The designs were hand lettered by Libby & I. We were able to make our designs into stencils. We created that perfect size sign for you to create at home. Sign kits that we ship to you or you pick up at the store. You will be able to purchase these products & more here online in the next few days.  Be sure to subscribe so you are the first to know.

A party in a box, a kit to create your own sign at home. We are offering them to purchase just one and more at a discounted price. All supplies and instructions on how to make your own. The possibilities are endless. Maybe you want a girls night in or you want to offer these workshops. We have a great bulk pricing on these kits.
